Lauren's Choice

It was a wind swept day on the Hampton's shores, it was warm Lauren wasn't sure weather to bring a sweater with her, one of Laurens pleasures was taking a nice book and a blanket with her sun umbrella  to the beach, she would spread the blanket out and sit down and let the warmth of the sand on the beach radiate though her bones.
Heaven on earth she thought, she settle in with her novel, in the distance she heard the waves crash upon the shore, children playing trying to enjoy the last of the summer days as it gives way to autumn arrival.
As Lauren found herself being woke up by a mans voice " Excuse me miss are you alright" he said as Lauren looked up at him.
"Yes just fine, I must have fallen asleep" she said with a smile
Before her stood a God as she thought, he was well built, about thirty, beautiful blue eyes and a mop of thick dark brown hair, a smile played around his sexy lips, his arms was folded flexing his muscles in the process.
"Pretty good tan you got going on," Lauren said with a smile and a wink.
"Thank, but you could really stand a little sun girl?" he said with a smile.
"Thank you, I have what is called porcelain skin," she said
"That is what you call it, the names Brock! Brock Devain" he says as he bends down to extend his hand.
"Lauren! just Lauren" she said lightly shaking his hand.
"You a hard nut to crack! " Brock said with a smile.
"I have cracked a good many a nuts be in my time Mr. Devain, that I can assure you" Laurn said as she took a drink of her iced tea.
"By the look of those thighs, I am sure that's true," Brock said with a smile.
"Don't you have some muscles to build or tone up Mr. Devain?" Laurn said as she returned her attention to her novel.
"Bye Mr. Devain"
As Lauren set enloying her novel, her thoughts were on Brock Devain, he was everything Jimmy wasn't, Brock built and tan, Jimmy glaring red hair and irish white with freckals, but Jimmy was always there for her, night and day since high school, after high school they both set off for Europe, they were called back because Jimmy's parents were killed in a head on collisian one night, Jimmy thought he would be able to continue on to collage but at the reading of the will Jimmy's evil aunt Rose left but one dollar to Jimmy, telling him it's time he prove's himself a man, so he had no choice but to take a job as a ferry operator.
As the afternoon gave way to the evening Lauren gathered up her blanket and umbrella and head back to her home which set on a hill over looking the Atlantic Ocean, Lauren was alone with the exception of the house keeper which worked three times a week,  Lauren's father wanted the house keeper five days a week, but like Lauren told her father she needed something to do over the summer, but Monday morning would be Lauren's freshman year at Long Island University, she had decided to take fashion design, Lauren had always dreamed of having her own clothing line, as a girls she used to take piece's of cloth and write "Designs by Lauren" for her doll's clothes.
Lauren decided to layout her clothes for the following Monday, she opted for a light sweater and jeans, and comfortable shoes, one down, several to go.
Lauren opted for a nice relaxing bath, she turned the light's low and turned a little classical music, the perfect recipe for a nice evening, and then early to bed, the candles flickered bathing the bathroom in a peaceful light, as Lauren slipped into the bath the warm water felt refreshing as her thoughts drifted back to Brock Devain, his big strong tan arms around her, she quivered at the thought, but then there was Jimmy, She loved Jimmy, but she couldn't see speanding her life as husband and wife
let alone having children with him.
She finished her bath, it was nine thirty, Lauren decided to have a snack and she flipped the t.v on, election was on Fox news, Hillary was being racked over the coals and Trump couldn't help himself, she decided to turn the t.v off and went to bed.
That night she toshed and turned, dreaming of being with her handsome God she met on the beach, she woke herself up calling his name "Brock! Brock!". Damn girl get a grip she thought.
The next day was Sunday Lauren was up bright and early, she fixed herself one egg, with two strips of bacon with an english muffin and orange juice and black coffee, she tried to make herself extra appealing, Jimmy was picking her up for mass, they both attended Most Holy Trinity Catholic church right in East Hampton.
The truth was she was feeling guilty for her thoughts of Brock, but she knew she could't lose Jimmy because he was her great equalizer, she could't fool him, he read her like a cheap novel, maybe he won't notice, she thought.
It was twenty minutes to nine just like Jimmy as right as rain, up the drive way in his old pick up truck, I had finished brushing my teeth and reapplied my lipstick, I heard him call from downstairs "Lauren are you ready?" Jimmy called out.
"Yes be down in a minute," I said as I gave myself one last look. I headed down stairs to Jimmy's waiting arms.
"My don't we look nice," Jimmy said with that look in his eye.
Damn he already knows I thought as Jimmy opened the passenger door for me. The ride to the church was a lot of small talk, he stopped at the front door and got out and opened my door for me, the perfect gentleman in every way, that was Jimmy Cruton.
Mass was peaceful, with the exception that Brock Devain was sitting four rows ahead of me, he kept turning and smiling at me every chance he'd get, which made Jimmy angry and suspicious, "What was that about?" Jimmy said after he got back into the truck.
"What was what!" I said as if I didn't notice that big hunk of a man smiling back at me.
"You did see that big guerrilla smiling back at you" Jimmy said shaking his head in disgust,
"So they're was a man smiling at me, big deal, Are we going out to eat or not?" Lauren asked as she looked out the passanger window not likeing how she was feeling inside.
"Sure Jimmy" said as he headed for a little resturant that they went to alot since they were kids.
The 1770's House was richly done with heavy wooden beams running the width of the room, with comfortable booths along the walls and beautifully set wooden table's set with white linen  table clothes and shiny white china ware, there was a faint sound of a music filtering thoughout the resturant,.
Jimmy pulled my chair out for me, I set down and Jimmy setted himself, he smiled at me, which I returned,
"Sorry Lauren, I guess I got a little jealous, forgive me" Jimmy said as he patted my hand with his, I could feel his well worn skin, his life wasn't easy, did Lauren have it in her to make Jimmy's life a little harder?
